Every December, the American Geophysical Union (an international group of 25,000 earth scientists) meets in San Francisco, California to discuss and present research. Towards the end of the meeting, I brought Tycho Aussie out to the conference. There, I met a lot of really cool people and had a lot of fun. One of the pranks was from the folks at Jet Propulsion Laboratories (JPL) who were sharing their booth with NASA. NASA had their "Hyper board" in place running a six minute narration and animation of the world's ocean climate that they had generated using climate models on their supercomputers. The JPL guys said "Hey, why don't you go over there and narrate the presentation?" So I snuck across the booth, jumped in and pantomimed as if I was the actual narrator. Tycho's mouth is fast, and he's a good imitator and synchronization was pretty much perfect. JPL staff were laughing and taking pictures, NASA personnel were pulling their hair out, and the curious crowd of passers-by all looked at the hyperboard, which told a story of increasing heat flow within the oceans, and a resulting changing climate that is going to the dogs.
Notice that even commanders Scott and Spock are present, probably looking for clues on where to find themselves a whale to take home.

I would so love to see video of this!
Your mention of NASA now makes me want to see a fursuiter in space. If we could somehow get a fursuit up to the space station, especially one that's well known in the furry community, that would be the most epic thing ever. After the challenge of getting it up there, the next challenge would be finding an astronaut who's the right size for it.

Maybe I chose the wrong field, as the conferences I attend seem too boring to have a fursuit running around. I couldn't even get people to take candy at a presentation that happened on Halloween. Any interest in switching from the terrestrial environment to say space weather?
