This was a super-short story I wrote ages and ages ago, and uploaded to my DA page. So, finally thought I'd get around to reposting it here.
Not much more I can say, or my description will be longer than the story itself. ;)

“Millie dear! Time to come in!”
“Aw, but…!” Millie protested, pausing with a half-made flower crown in her hands.
“You should probably go,” Serenity said.
“But…” Millie protested. She wanted to stay and play with her friends! Tomorrow they would be back in school, which meant they wouldn’t get to come visit!
“Millieeee, I know you can hear me!”
“She sounds just like our mom when she’s kind of annoyed,” Zax said, standing up. “Bet she counts to three next…”
“But…” Millie said, looking helplessly between Serenity and Zax, begging one of them to propose some solution, some way that this playtime could be drawn out beyond this quiet evening.
“Millie! I’m counting to three!” Called Millie’s mother from beyond the shrubbery and garden shed.
“Told you,” Zax said with a shrug.
“One…”
“Here,” Serenity said, handing her half-completed flower chain to Millie. “Keep it safe, please?”
“Two…Millie Cassandra Cariich Yidgat!”
“Oh, but…” Millie started to protest. Serenity couldn’t just leave the flowers here! This was her work, her art…she had taught Millie how to weave flowers!
“I can’t take them home, mom’s reeeaaaally allergic to these,” Serenity explained, gently pressing the flowers into Millie’s hand.
“Three! Millie, get over here, it’s time for bed!”
“See you Saturday,” Serenity said, giving Millie a hug. Zax waved, took Serenity’s hand, and the two of them walked off into the woods behind Millie’s house, disappearing almost immediately in the dusk.
“Millie! Don’t make me come out there!”
“Coming, mom,” Millie said, walking back to the house with two woven flower chains in her hands. The blue flowers in the yard lit her way to the back porch, where her mother stood waiting.
“There you are, where have you been?” Mrs. Yidgat asked, sweeping her daughter into a hug.
“Playing with my friends,” Millie replied, rubbing her cheek against her mother’s scaly skin. “You remember Serenity and Zax, right?”
“…Yes, of course…” Millie’s mother said with a slight sigh. “Come on, we’ll put your lumibells in some water, and then it’s straight to bed…”
Shortly afterwards…
“Icarus?”
“Yes, dear?” Millie’s father replied, looking at his dear wife framed in the doorway, her wings hanging low.
“…I’m worried about our daughter…” Mrs. Yidgat said, climbing slowly into bed. “She’s still seeing those imaginary friends of hers…”
“Ahh, relax, dearest!” Icarus Yidgat said, caressing his wife’s face and snout, fingers tracing each perfect scale. “When I was a lad, I held far stranger company than imaginary humans.”
