weird washed shading was an attempt to make it look like folds in a banner that failed. d'oh.

The 'washed shading attempt' is rather reminiscent of a cloth banner that has hung on the wall of a dank old castle where moisture collects on the cold stone walls only to run down and stain the once proud banner of the long-dead ruler of said castle. That being said, I must say I fancy the 'aged' look it lends to it. Also, Heraldic 'Taks rock!
Ah, hmm. Well, perhaps instead of simply a nikitak coat of arms, you put together a more general one that stood for the various races of the inhuman universe? ...or perhaps a sabrousian coat of arms? Other than that, I got nuthin. Who knows, it might make for an intriguing TF2 spray?
