Building Al's and Valia's relationship I knew would be central to the story I wanted to tell and so I spent a lot of time in considering how Al would respond to Valia's initial changes. I wanted them to have had some time knowing each other beforehand so that they did feel comfortable, and on a deeper level in their own ways both Valia and Aldwin feel a little isolated from other people, so there is great comfort in knowing that they have each other whenever needed.

It would be quite daunting having a trusted friend come to you and reveal such drastic and unusual changes.

What would you have done in Aldwin's place?
