Miss Li ran a shop on the East-side of town, not the friendliest place and the bars on her windows, while ornamental, attested to that. (And the shotgun she kept under her counter, but that's a story for another day) Anyway her shop was one of those stereotypical shops one might find that sold whatever tchotchke items from her homeland (china). Though she did have other stuff: fabric, clothing, spices (white pepper to name one, so hard to find that stuff sometimes), herbs, and the occasional concoction she would make herself. There were also rumors she used the shop as a fence for money laundering and other illegal activities, but she never really caused any trouble so the police force left her alone. They were already very busy and why try and stir something up when it wasn't a problem. Now, back onto the topic of her concoctions, sometimes the police would get concerned that some illegal substance would be an ingredient. So that's where I come in, I already shop there regularly (for the spices) and they really don't want to be seen in a potentially compromising situation buying illegal substances from her. So they wire me money, send me instructions, and I go in and do business. Of course I make sure to wear my spotless white shirt so she knows what im in there for the instant I step in the door. She likes to tease me about being on a leash for the force, I like to tease her about the racket she runs. All good natured really. So in this case, once again I find myself buying some concoction from her so they can test it for illegal substances. Ah whatever, its an excuse to see a friend.
