Okay I agree its not okay to call someone Queer when they don't self-identify as such but I'm also not oppose to us reclaiming the word, it's a better umbrella term imo. Gay was also a slur until the community reclaimed it

Queer will always be a slur, and it should never be an umbrella term. An umbrella term is 'lgbt'. It's not that hard. I'm not against gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and trans people reclaiming queer, but it is not who I am, it is not our community. We are not unnatural. We are not weird. We are normal people wanting to live normal lives

It's not nessesarily "weird" to be gay on it's own but like... a) you're wrong that it'll always be a slur because... it won't, it close to the event horizon of being reclaimed and is used commonly self-identification (both Queer and Genderqueer) and b) Is anyone really "normal"? I feel like normality is just a false construct that's used for superiority over those who differ from the masses

Yes, homosexuality should be /Normilized/ but Queer is not the same as a slur like F****t. Queer means differing from the norm which... everyone does in some way so it's redundant at best. F*****t is the bundles of sticks people ised to burn witches at the stake and burn gay people alive. There's a big difference here.

I'm sorry you lived in such a liberal and nice accepting place for LGBT and have never experienced being called queer negatively. Queer is most used slur against the LGBT across the US. It is not being reclaimed, it's being jammed down our throats regardless of how hurtful it is to the majority of LGBT. Queer has the same exact weight if not more than faggot or tranny. Doesn't matter the origin, it matters how it's used today.

Faggot and tranny can only be reclaimed by gays or trans people respectively. Queer can be used by lgbt who WANTS to use it. but DO NOT CALL ME QUEER. DO NOT CALL OTHERS QUEER IF THEY HAVE NOT SAID THEY'RE OKAY WITH IT. Just because someone coined a dumb gender term, doesn't suddenly make it not a slur.

I never called you Queer, and never said it was okay to label someone that way if they didn't expressly say it was okay. I'm just saying that a pin like this can make it seems like Queer is the worst word to be called.
I'm also sorry you had to grow up in such a Shitty place where Queer was used as a slur but if you're gonna realize I might have a smaller world veiw than you think, maybe you should realize you do to. I've lived all over America, from the cities of New York to the outskirts of Ohio to the beautiful streets of California as well as Texas. If there's one thing I learned, the world is a lot less dark than everyone likes to make it out to be. Maybe you haven't learned that, but don't act like your point of veiw is that of the whole community or that a specific word.
Queer isn't universally bad. Is it used as a slur sometimes and bathed in the blood of our past? Yeah, but so was gay. The world is not static, you don't have to be.
