Design Concept:
Each Gargoyle bears its curse on its body, written in runes that glow in the dark. Only the Gargoyle that bears those specific runes is able to read them and temporarily lift the curse to use its own full powers. It has been said that when a human has won the complete trust of the Gargoyle, then the beast will reveal the meaning of its runes and the human will be able to lift the curse of his companion without ill consequences. However, the curse can be liften but not destroyed. The human that lifts the curse will bear the runes on their body and, on the day of their death, will give them back to the Gargoyle, who shall be cursed once again. After a few cycles, most Gargoyles will simply not be able to lose again someone they trust, and will simply choose to be alone.
(The new owner can choose what kind of power the curse releases. Also, the runes' design can be changed to the new owner's wish.)
