and a design change; Asumolici no longer has that big of a belly. (their neck and tail are still huge, though.)

and a name change; the monster’s name is now Santa, not Asumolici. actually, that’s hideously complicated. here, have some backstory which i thought i would have time to complete via drawing some comics… but i’ve decided that i probably should spend my summertime on other things.

(IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO READ SEVERAL PARAGRAPHS, YOU CAN SKIP THIS PART UNTIL I SAY STOP)

so Asumolici was a horrible monster that terrorized multiple regions of Earth for centuries. (this is a different Earth, one where magic has always existed and that literally every living creature uses/needs to survive.) their power was almost limitless, and Asu abused this power to rule almost half of Earth’s population with an iron fist.

but then something happened. one day, one of the countries he controlled (Treeland) started a rebellion, so they traveled to Treeland’s capital, disguised themself as a human baby just outside an orphanage. the plan was to destroy the orphanage by transforming back into their true form while inside the building (yes, Asu really is that evil). even though no one knew about this plan or saw him transform, this plan failed anyways. while in the arms of the owner of the orphanage, Asu accidentally mentally casted a spell which made them forget every single memory they have. at this point, Asu (renamed Santa by the owner of the orphanage) is effectively just any normal human infant.

several years pass. when Santa turns 2 months old, the Veris family, a famous bloodline of good cops, adopts Santa and four other children when they hear that this particular orphanage is about to be in a was zone. (it was a big deal that the world’s tyrant was now gone; Treeland fell into a civil war immediately after Asu disappeared. this war ended when Santa was 3 years old.)

growing up, Santa was teased relentlessly by the other kids for either not being able to use certain magic that other kids can use, or having magic which suspiciously resembles the magic of the long-dead Asu (hated to a greater extent than Hitler in the real universe). his parents, however, were always supportive of Santa, who turns out to be an outgoing, talkative, and artistically-active kid. most of his peers stopped bullying him as high school started, but only because he hid his magic whenever he could.

Santa is now 18 and attends University close to home. the human disguise Asu used to accidentally become Santa is about to run out of time. exactly when does that happen? i don’t know (i’m still deciding the circumstances of this story), but now this teenage boy suddenly reverts back into his true form, without warning and still without any of his previous memories, and also without having re-learned most of the magic that Asu could use. the news of Asu’s supposed return shocks the world, and the town he’s in instantly captures them at the command of his oblivious mother, Officer Veris…

…and i’ll leave you with that. still most of the backstory is unfinished, but clearly this image takes place far after all of what i just said. i just wanted to post something stupid.
