Princess Sonia and Shadow the hedgehog are in love. Their feelings towards each other know no bounds.
This fact, however, irritates a certain gloomy figure from Shadow's past, Mephiles The Dark. He waits for a perfect moment when the couple is too distracted and makes his sudden move.
In the end, both hedgehogs are chained up and gagged in Mephiles' Dungeon with no way to escape on their own. The shady manipulator stands in the doorway eyeing his helpless captives down. What angers Mephiles so much? Maybe he doesn't like the fact Shadow found happiness in his life? Perhaps he feels jealous?
