im really thankful for the lgbt+ community and how it's impacted my life. it's taken me a lot of time to come to terms with my identity and im happy with who i am now.

My experience with the LGBT+ community by and large has been overwhelmingly negative, because in my view, it's chock full of TERFS and people who think L and G are the only relevant letters(the two categories may or may not coincide, depending on a case by case basis.) That said, I do like that your personal anecdote differs, and I hope you continue to meet lots of supportive and caring people. I'm also proud of you for being happy with yourself, it's absolutely NOT a requirement for you to be valid or respected in any way, is simply a very nice thing that sometimes happens to people. So yeah!

honestly, the community has been pretty negative for me too on some levels. ive been told some terrible things bc im ace (besides the fact im also pan and not cis), had a lot of truscum tell me im not allowed because i don't fall under trans binary, etc etc. but ive also met a lot of people who have made me feel wanted and respected. it's tough to separate but i guess im thankful for the community because of what it stands for, .not necessarily the people in it! im so sorry you've had such a negative time in the community :( it's honestly really tough
