Guess this is a combination of the first two in a believable scenario. I imagine Tanooki doesn't have a clue that those noodles are his friends. I'm pretty sure he knows Cat is in the smoothie, though. Cat seems like the kind of person who would let him know- Actually, on second thought, that "tea" sequence makes me think he doesn't know what's going on with either. I don't think he'd have the drink there and still be enjoying himself as much if he knew.... actually on the second look at his face, he may have an inkling.
