So I hear from a bunch of places that artists are supposed challenge themselves all the time and not be happy with anything they've achieved or whatnot. Whatever. I was just dicking around tonight waiting for my supper to warm up and randomly had the idea to see if I could sketch with my left hand (I draw right handed). Lately, I've been able to throw pretty decently with my right hand (I throw left handed) so I'd see if any of that was headed back the other way. I started with the left, letting it work out the subject and ended up sketching an old character I haven't done in a while, a police detective dragon named Bogarth Sarn. The sketch you see represents about 5 to 10 minutes worth of work. For comparison, I did the same character with my right hand working that sketch for about 5 minutes. Neither has been erased and interestingly the left hand sketch looks more on-model with the character than the right hand one does. It might be his snout length that's off in rthe right. I just might try more of this left handed sketching when I have the time. It might, pardon the pun, come in handy to be able to do someday.
