Another garden setup, this time on the western corner of my yard, one of the few places that actually gets sun. The flowers pictured are marigolds (my favorite flower) lavender, a mosquito plant, and a couple other miscellaneous pink and purple plants, chosen on the basis that hues of pink and purple attract bees and butterflies. (The first three plants I listed also deter mosquitoes.) The birdhouse there was something I painted last year, but I never hung up upon discovering that birds generally like houses that look a bit more natural. Threw it back here because it looks pretty.
In the middle is a bee and butterfly bath. I paper mached and lacquered a cake platter with magazine scraps to make it look like a mosaic, then placed some pretty rocks and a succulent pot on top of it, and on top of that, a platter I bought in Ireland with blue marbles so that nothing drowns in the water and the bugs can drink safely.
