"They are monsters that can blend in with our kind and with humans. They are the masters of disguise, its why we hide within our town where none of them can reach us."
I've recently returned back to working on my OC stuff once more and recently after some talking with folks and helping me to make a world that makes sense, gave my Zullux species a dangerous way they can travel within society. Honestly I had a blast working on the designs for these forms and how diverse I made the human forms which is a huge step for me in regards to improvement as an artist. As of my fancy chart, this has our current queen, Renya which follows along with all her surviving children. The boxes are cut off to identify which clutches they were in and therefore their clutch siblings.
The purebred zullux are able to change into a "human" form where they look very much like a human even down to the physiology. They use this as a way to lure shapeshifters who to them they would just see them as another human along being able to traverse through cities and towns as normal people. This human form can be maintained for around 2 months straight before hunger begins to set in and would need to feed on a shapeshifter. The longer they go without eating, the harder it is to maintain this human form. Once focus is lost, the purebred would change to their "humanoid" where that can can easily change from humanoid to the true bug forms. However this humanoid form is a dead giveaway of what they are and normally would not be dare caught in this form outside of their nest. But as a trade off for the human form, the zullux lose all their strength that they would have in their other forms...basically they are just as human as you can get and very much as vulnerable as one. Unfortunately the queen has had losses over the years which included her daughters Xuxa, Mair, Sirikit and her son Kiros. Interesting to note that they take after the queen in appearance in the humanoid form but its been theorized that the human forms gain their looks from the host shapeshifter they are born from.
