Rita prides herself in being a crafter. She likes to create things with a physical medium. But even though she would describe herself as a general artisan, she's technically a metalsmithy, since she works, well, with metal. Granted she's done a little work with other materials, but it's mostly metal as her goto material.
Not that that's a bad thing, but she likes to try other things. In this case, glass. She took brief class in glassmaking. Although she doesn't see huge practicality with it compared to metal, she takes pride in creating her glass sculpture. With a bit of help with her metalsmithing, Rita created an ace of clubs playing card-like sculpture. With her own flair, of course.
In fact, I myself took such delight making the glass model myself, that I put it up on Sketchfab for viewing: https://skfb.ly/6zBYx
Now, something that's been a little bothersome to me is rendering Rita without anybody else in the background. Granted it is sorta irrelevant, since it’s about Rita, but it bothers me because it feels like she’s in a vacuum. But the alternative is to, well, make different characters to litter the background, which is more work I really don’t want to do. Another alternative is buying stock characters, but I’m too cheap and petty for that.
So I went with the next best thing, which is to get MakeHuman, an open-source human modeling software, create generic male and female models, make them silhouette, and awkwardly pose them.
I’m a bit mixed. They definitely stand out a bit, yet I think the depth of field helps to make them less distracting. And they do help to give the background some character. Granted their proportions are different from Rita’s, but I expected that. Frankly I’m satisfied enough to use these “silhouette people” for the time being.
