A beautiful tribute piece of a cute, little family of pets; Commissioned by a friend, for a friend of a friend in a RUSH for the birthday. There were tears and plenty of boo-hoos over the painting, and I'm glad it's loved because it was certainly a joy to paint.
8x10 gouache on watercolor paper.
One of my first gouaches actually. I'm discovering how much more I love it over the typical, translucent watercolors. When I create these portraits, there is so much layering that happens to achieve all the right colors and shadows I like-- the opaque watercolors (gouache) does a better job achieving the level of vibrancy and depth I look for in all my piece.
