Search and Rescue is the last occupation one would expect to find a seven foot tall Utahraptor involved in, yet here we see Thrymja going about the day job. With his highly refined sense of smell and computer enhanced brain, he has little trouble chasing down lost mountaineers... Assuming they don't get spooked and intentionally make themselves MORE lost when they see him running their way.
Despite the teeth, claws and imposing stature, the raptor is a surprisingly genial creature. After all, everything his instincts tell him to maul went extinct about 120mya.
Thrymja (pronounced: preem-ya) is a result of a near-future headcanon of mine in which highly advanced genetic manipulation tech exists. In this world dinosaurs have been cloned for some time- as zoo exhibits, exotic pets, and for labour/military applications. Thrymja is one such creature; far from suited to direct combat in a world of drones and missiles, he was designed to assist in the search for Unexploded Ordenance. Large parts of his autonomic nervous system are computerised to make way for a nidopallium capable of housing sentience, and whilst his personality remains atavistic he is something of a trickster by nature. After retirement he found himself taking roles that capitalised on his scent-tracking abilities, and it wasn't long before he was picked up by a mountain rescue division like some giant, feathery St Bernard. Ask nicely and he might give you some brandy.
