You open you office door to find a young woman standing there waiting for you. Sh seems distraught and barely turns to face you when you enter. As you approach her you see shes shaking and wiping away tears with trembling hooves.
"I..I was told to wait here for you" she whispered, her voice broken and weak
"Yes..my secretary told me someone was waiting for me." You give a nervous laugh "Thought it was my mother back for more money" She looks to you with a almost ghost like gaze. Poor girl is so far gone. You stroll past her and walk to the book shelf to the far back corner of the room. You quietly grab a random bottle of alcohol with a golden unicorn on the label and pour a glass for her then you. You place the glass at the edge of your desk and pull up a chair for her.
"So...um..*ahem* what can I do for you..miss?" you ask taking a seat behind your desk
"I just go by goat..creative isn't it?" she quietly sits in the chair, not as graceful as you would have thought. She slumps in the seat starring into her drink. While you wait for her to collect her self you are able to take the time to notice shes in a rosy pink dress, her ears pulled back into a gold clamp. Her nose and face look battered with a few scratches and her hands look like she had been in a scuff. You sit up straighter and take a swig of your drink when she glances up.
Taking a breath you begin trying to start getting some answers as to why shes here
"Miss-"
"I DIDN'T DO IT! BUT IT WASN'T HIS FAULT! I TOLD THEM IT WAS ME WHO MESSED UP THE TAG NOT HIM!" She began sobbing uncontrollably and jumped out of her chair. She dropped the glass when the chair hit the floor with a loud thud. Crumpling to her knees she continued to sob. She held herself and began to whisper
"I'm here because I need you to solve something for me" she took a short breath "My friend was killed because his tag didn't last his entire stay..more like him are suffering the same fate..one.by.one they are being given faulty magic tags and are killed." She looked up to you brushing her hair out of her face "Someone is selling humans faulty transformation tags and human hating gangs are taking advantage of this or they are all connected I don't fully know yet" She pulled the clamp out of her ears and opened the top of it. Inside where four dragon steam cigarettes normally given to women to "calm their nerves". She looked to you
"Have a light?". This entire time you where too shocked to move but jumping up on instinct you grabbed a box of matches off your desk and struck one for her. She stood up holding herself again the cig letting off a trail of sweet smelling smoke. She pulled it from her mouth and turned to face you
"Can you help me? Me and so many others are being told faulty magic items as well causing so many humans to be hurt or worse. I heard you where the best around especially your wife being human you should feel strongly about my case. I can pay you very handsomely" you stepped back twards the door. How did she know your wife was human?! You needed to make a phone call before agreeing to getting yourself into a serious mess.
"Wait here please...I need to make a phone call" You walked to the door and she turned you back to you and took another drag
"I'm not out to hurt you detective..only help my friends and all other innocent humans. Think it over and give me a call" She handed you a card with her number on it and pulled her ears back into the clamp before walking out the door her hoof steps fading down the hall.
