The KN-18 was the pinnacle of aeronautical engineering when it was introduced to the E'Fo'Nan Imperial Air Force in 1955 B.C.E. and was the frontline fighter at the beginning of the 8th war in 1949 B.C.E. Most see it as the prototype for the KN-19 as it was basically an up-armed and sleeker KN-18. Fitted with a fuel injected inverted V-10 (later a V-12) and thin wings, the KN-18 was able to reach a record breaking speed of over 600 kph (373 mph) and a flight time of nearly 2 hours and 20 minutes, it could outpace any fighter at the time and for longer. When the war broke out in 1949 B.C.E. with the Battle of the Ku'Jok Sea the KN-18 was the fighter to bear the force of the K.A.C (Ko'Jame Air Corps) but with few numbers and low fuel at the bases in Mo'Gu only were able to delay the Ko'Jame forces from landing on the island, from 1955-1948 over 30,000 were made before being replaced by the superior KN-19.
