Well huh! I was kind of not expecting to see any more Barrow art from you, after the initial blast! I'm glad to be proven wrong! Is this a new picture you did recently? Or something from a while back? After seeing some of your recent comments saying you don't usually do this kind of thing anymore, I would GUESS it's an older piece... but hey, you tell me.

Anyway, this is a very cool pose! Reminds me of the awesome work you did on Lolzguy's Simulacrum, the cover art. I'm pretty enamoured with this kind of thing right now, so this appeals to me in a big way! Definitely doesn't look like an easy thing to draw, but I like it a lot!
And I kind of like the small addition of the little glowing trail left by the PIXIE. The idea that she is drifting around this fellow as they sink, trying to keep up with him. talk to him, get his attention or something... I like it!
...but I also realise maybe you're just being a stickler for your own lore, and saw the little containment unit is on the other side, so had to insinuate the travel so she could be in a position that best complements the pose and composition of the piece :P. That's fair too, haha!

Music was some very funky stuff too. I just let it play in the background without looking at it, so I was a little surprised when the lyrics started up. The rumbly electronic synth (look at my amazing know-nothing music vernacular!) and quiet vocals made me think it'd be totally fitting for music that would play during an in-game level.
Still, the lyrics. I can see some interesting little ways it could line up with what I know of Barrow, but I'd also be interested to hear from the horse mask's mouth, if you had any deeper thoughts on this choice... beyond it just being something you had playing whilst you worked on the piece!

Every once in a while I get a hankering to do some Barrow stuff! It's still a project we're very interested in, and sometimes we still listen to the custom playlist we drummed up for the world. Yesterday this track was playing and I was like "that's it, I gotta draw it," so here you have it! haha.

I don't really mind doing vague background things for my own personal stuff, but I don't feel comfortable doing it for commission. Also, it's more of the "cyberpunk" with bright colors and cyberpunk with armor and guns and all of that that I'm more or less pretty over and done with. I drew a lot of it before, so I'm still a bit fatigued by it when I've found so many other interesting things to draw since! Barrow is fun to draw for because of the odd WW1 x 80s Retrofuture design, where everyone is wearing some kind of big baggy clothes with splatter-masks - but while manning their ships or whatever. So, not so much a disinterest in this kind of art, but more disinterest in treading ground I feel I've worn out and has become boring.

The PIXIE trail was something I added at the last minute, partially to make the sketch a bit more interesting, but also just visually wondering if they should leave some kind of "tether" to wherever they're housed. I still don't fully know exactly how they're supposed to materialize out of nothing, haha. Maybe Barrow in general doesn't either, since they're alien technology.

It's great to see more Barrow, and makes me pleased to hear it's still something that's floating around in your mind! OBVIOUSLY you draw what you wanna draw, but know you've got at least one other big Barrow fan out here.
Along with art, I would surely love to get to listen to some more songs that are part of that Barrow playlist too. In your own time though, of course! Consider this just interest, not an outright ask!

Ah. This just reminds me of several scenes in the book. Basically, people bond nature spirits, some of them look like that green silhouette you have in this picture. They give these people powers, such as flight.
