Jeez, this drawing is really slow going!
I realized a few days ago that I pretty much never draw my own characters, which is really sad xD So I wanted to change that! I also wanted to switch things up a little and try a new line style, with really thin lines, to see how it looked and felt. It's really hard working with thin lines! Nothing to hide behind! Thick lines are so fun and make things really toony, but thin lines make things feel more 'life like' I think? It brings a strange seriousness and ~maturity~ to the drawing, which I wasn't expecting??? I guess it just feels a little more grounded in reality. It's been a fun experiment, but I'm glad the lining process is done. x3
I also used a photo reference for this!! Which I typically only do for commission stuff, when necessary. It's so funny how doing this simple thing can insanely bump up the appeal and look of a piece. It's crazy, and now I'm kicking myself for not doing it more a looong time ago! The image I used is from Senshi Stock over on DA, btw. That's my new piece of advice - take it from someone who's been stubborn for a long time about using reference images - start using them! It's such a fast way to improve lol.
ANYWAY this is becoming super long, sorry! I was just really excited about posting this wip cause I'm proud of it, ha~ I'm going to color it, and maybe even shade it? That could take foreverrrr but I'm trying to look at it as practice xD But yeah, it feels really good to just... Drop expectations and draw stuff for myself again and take time with it and stuff. I'm trying not to let how time consuming it is bother me, and just enjoy the process of making again. x3 I'd really like to get back into this habit again of just drawing for myself, rather than looking at it as a chore or like homework, which is what drawing has become for me with school and all.
Before this gets any longer, I'm going to try and stop myself. xD Idk where this word vomit came from but here it is! I can't wait to get this piece done and show it off all sparkly and finished. :3
