Adorable little pony, and just perfect for the cart. It's hard to figure out quite what to do with a wicker 'governess' cart--not the most practical vehicle, but they've done a pretty good job :)

The pony carts in general were fun to watch. I have a bunch more of the ponies but this was one of the better ones.

Quite a few wicker governess carts are still around, so they must have been rather omnipresent back in the day. Remember, people of means didn't want their blasted noisy children around, except at schedule interaction times :) With the pony cart, the governess could take them far from the house when they got too rowdy.

There were certainly other carts that had partially wicker bodies, but these seem the most common by far. Often the wicker is extremely dry and fragile, and there's not much you can do with them. To use one, you usually have to find someone who will re-basket the basket; I imagine that's not an inexpensive undertaking!

Now that should have been one of your tin types. I wonde if you can still do it in an enlarger with a slide and a long exposure with the tin in place of photo paper?

So use a UV illuminator, like a high intensity sun tan lamp bulb? Of course if this idea worked, you could make copies of historic photos
