Treasure Planet is my all-time favorite Disney movie, I could go on for hours on how it's a SHAMEFUL CRIME that it flopped so hard at the box office (why do people assume that all Disney animated films have to be strictly for kids? Give the film a chance!)
A bit of a collaboration between myself and my brother, who owns a 3D printer (I kinda want my own 3D printer but I don't know how to build one or what I'd even use it for, so eeeeh). He made the 3D model and printed it out, I did the sanding and painting.
It's not quite done yet, there's a few touch-ups I need to do and I still need to varnish it. I also REALLY want to get my hands on some glow-in-the-dark paint to put in the grooves, I think that would be fun!
Commissions are delayed because I effed my finger up pretty bad while making this. It was the inevitable blood sacrifice to the Crafting Gods. Ask any cosplay/fursuit person and they'll tell you this is true. So I'll be taking the rest of the weekend off, will be back to drawing on Monday!
Plz ignore my filthy room in the background k thnx

How did you tear up your finger? I stabbed myself once when trimming some thick paper attached to a foam board. I was holding the board in the air with one had and the scalpel in the other. I have also burned myself while forging iron, been bit by endmills, and have gotten splinters of all kinds but nothing that really took my hand out of action for long. Well, there was the time I was pinched by a closing car door. Those bandages were thick.
you call the door pinch bad?
I had my right hand's index, middle, and ring finger slammed all the way to the second joint, but admittedly all i needed was a few minutes to walk it off, and i was good.
EDIT. when i said slammed, i meant it, it wasn't a gently push like you would normally, it was more like a pissed off slam.

I let the car door close on all of my fingers at once. One of them got a deep flap gash in the middle of one of the phalanges. A lot of blood and a common self-adhesive bandage later and the initial problem was dealt with. I think I bear a scar from slipping on dry asphalt though.
I jabbed myself, right in the side of the knuckle, with a craft knife/needle file thingy. The bone is really close to the surface there so even though it didn't actually make a very big/deep cut and didn't bleed much (got right between two veins, by some bizarre stroke of luck) I suspect it got the bone. I was also using a fair bit of force, so it's pretty bruised. It's also right where I use my fingers to lift things, so I keep going to grab stuff and then having to stifle colorful language. Really hurts XwX
Combine it with my usual auto-immune joint inflammation problems and I'm not drawing until it recovers a bit.

You don't use files to remove extreme amounts of material in a single stroke, you silly Sillivar!
*picks up part*
*locks it down with Psychic
*places the head of the file on the part*
*pushes the file across the surface while applying gentle downforce upon the part*
*lifts the file when the tail reaches the part*
*places the file's head back on the part and repeats the place-push-lift cycle*
*cleans the file of metal bits with a wire brush when it fills up*

dude this looks amazing. i've tried to replicate the ball myself but it's so freaking hard to tell how it's suposed to look. there's like three ways it's drawn in the movie, varying levels of detail. yours looks really really good. how did you manage to figure out the placement so well?
