It really does bowl me over that this burial is almost three-hundred and forty years old (I assume precisely that in August of this year), and that the carvings are still entirely legible now. I know this isn't the oldest burial headstone you've taken a picture of, but I think I can guess this is closer to the oldest than the newest.

I don't know if it's something that you explore by habit, but if I can ask: is there ever much in the way of documentation (aside from what's on the marker) in local birth, death and burial records for interments of this vintage?
