Here's the finished work after 3 weeks and 6 sessions of work. It was probably around 25-30 hours of work. This last session was all about using sandpaper and going at it by hand then finalizing some details with a really tiny bit on the Dremel then coating it with tung oil. I thought about adding fur texturing but with a sculpture this small I felt it would make the lines too busy and the beauty of the wood grain would be lost. It's not quite as detailed as I want it but I had several incidents finding how delicate cherry wood is despite being a somewhat dense wood, so I went with thicker proportions.
For this project I've been using a Dremel 4800 with an assortment of aggressive grinding bits made for wood. You can find a photo of them at this url: https://www.trainz.com/products/dre.....-117-hs-cutter . The only one not shown is the teardrop shaped bit that worked great for cutting into the wood and still keeping a smooth cut.
