Backup instrumentation is purely midi.

I was experimenting a bit with the guitar fret noise to see if I could enhance the midi to make it sound more real.

But this song is lovely.

Awww, very beautiful!

The fret noise seems well placed.
If you want to get rid of the midi sound, I'd recommend Guitar Pro (for guitars of course^^) with RSE soundbanks.
Atm I'm experimenting with soundfonts... without success so far.

How much is guitar pro, and does it also include banjo and mandolin?

About 50$, and nope. Only Guitars (in any possible variations) Basses and Drums.
It features many Guitar-techniques (bend, slide, palm mute, hammer on, etc)
