You (and Dan too) take some amazing pictures. I can't really do 'urban' exploring where I am because there is no urban area here, but I want to try some abandoned rural building photography soon

Thank you. If you really put some time into looking and research, you would be amazed at how many places there are to explore out there. Not just older hospitals, but industry, housing, etc. New places become vacant every day. I'm certainly more interested in places that have faced nature and taken a toll through time, but there is also beauty in the emptiest of places if you just apply to the time to think with your eyes instead of just looking.

Once again, the composition works beautifully; but in my view, the most interesting details are the subtly diverse textures revealed by metallic reflections.

Haha, sure. These are the open lids to industrial cooking 'cauldrons' (I'm not sure of the proper term to use for them, since I'm not versed with much more than a microwave and a toaster.) These were in the kitchen area of the same place with the iron lungs. Vacant, of course. ;)

Steam kettles is what they called them when I worked in such a kitchen long ago. Lot of FOOD there can't quite get a feel for the size from the picture. At a guess 20-40gallons each.. seen units that do 60gallons with a time with a drain valve at the bottom

It's another very beautiful picture, Tiberious. Framing is excellent, the HDR brings out the most surreal elements of the photograph, including colors I wouldn't expect. If I didn't know better, I'd call this a rendered 3D scene instead of the beautiful example of HDR that it is. Great work!

I love HDR, but I'm becoming less of a fan to the extreme rendered look of the photo. This is an unfortunate result of tone mappping HDR, which is taking the detail that can't be displayed on a standard CRT or LCD monitor and blending it such that it can be viewed on any conventional display. Which, essentially, is rendering the photo to be viewed properly. There is a better way around this, and I will find it. ;)
