I'd recommend seeing "Return of the Living Dead", was made in the 80's and actually spawned two more sequels, which seemed to get sillier as they went.

DOES is proper grammar in this instance. He was right. The act of "Eating enough" is the noun doing the growing, and it requires the singular verb "does." "Of these" while plural, is a prepositional phrase, so it does not have an effect on the type of verb used.
