Brewery: Avery Brewing Co.
Name: Pum[KY]n Ale (Porter brewed with pumpkin and spices in Bourbon Barrels) Batch #3
Style: Pumpkin Ale/Porter
Bottle: 12oz
Appearance: Like a dark maple syrup though more of a reddish tinge
Pours: Ominously like you’ve just released a demon that has yet to show itself but you can almost hear it laughing in anticipation at your foolishness somewhere.
Smell: Bourbony sweetness with an afterhint of spice(Clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice...)
Taste: Like a dark seduction by the most dangerously sexiest damn denizen of hell you can imagine with music of a Lizst Nocturne, or something beautifully sweeping yet powerful and nightmarish by Berlioz or Mahler.
Mouthfeel: Very sticky sweet, with just enough of a sour counterbalance to prevent it from being sickly sweet.
Rating: 8.6 At 18.8%ABV I know I’m going to regret this, but it’s playing its part so effectively. The sweetness does a superb job of masking its true alcohol content. It comes across as more of a nine percenter. A very well played and malicious trick indeed.
Dance with me. Dance with me into oblivion....
