As summer draws to a close, here's a sleepy picture I did last summer to send you off. My character, Tobius Leander, playing with some butterflies.
Watercolor on 12"x9" cold press watercolor paper. Inspired heavily by the concept art for Spirited Away. :3
Enjoy! <3

Well this is just BEAUTIFUL! 8D
Inspired by "Spirited Away," you say? Well that's even BETTER! \(^o^)/
I thoroughly enjoy the simplicity of this piece, especially how at certain points the butterflies appear to be oddly shaped clouds. Making them all white against a bluish/white sky was a GRAND idea: a great way to tease the human eye! =D
Oh, and seeing your bunny character with his wand/baton out makes me think he's oh so slightly influencing them! :3
Simply GORGEOUS! =>

*nods* I work in watercolor a lot as well, but the paper buckling has always been a concern for me, even when I prep it. O.o which is why I only use illustration board when working with watercolors, heavy stuff. I have tried that paper you mention, but it, too, has buckled. All watercolor papers seem to do this, despite being "made" for use with watercolors.
ANYway, you are obviously talented enough to have tamed the paper. Your work is fantastic. :)

Such a tranquil image... Laying in the grass on a clear summer day letting time tick past at your leisure. Entertaining yourself with the natural wonders around you...
I never really had a habit with watercolor but you've pulled it off nicely.
Am I insane for seeing a face in the far right rock?
