Alice is my baby. She's sweet, in perfect body condition (a LOT of older boas are dangerously overweight), and very cuddly. She's about 10-15 years old and has done pretty much all the major growing she's going to do. She's just shy of 9'6". The man who gave her to me said that she was 12 feet long. I think people vastly overestimate how large their snakes are. Or they just want to brag?
In Vin Russo's book, The Complete Boa Constrictor (pretty much the boa bible) he says that in all his years of boa experience (Over 30 years, in captivity AND in the wild), and all of his friends' years of boa experience, they've never once seen an actual boa that reached 10 feet long. Ever. Hmmm...

Believe me, we've paid a medium sized fortune for our babies, lol! Especially once you consider the proper caging, the freezer, the food that goes into the freezer, and the new floor in the snake room....
But it's worth it, and we do consider ourselves VERY lucky to share our house with them. :)

Man, I swear, once a week, minimum, I threaten to sell our BCC. We have a reverse trio of Peruvians, and the female is SO. FREAKING. MEAN. The boys aren't bad per se, not cuddly like our BCI, but that's to be expected. Yzma, our female, is just nasty, though! She bit me in the fleshy place between my thumb and forefinger and it bruised SO BAD, lol!
But in all serious, I love her, and they're such gorgeous creatures. We're hoping to get some squiggly little baby Peruvians this time around, we've already started cooling! *fingerscrossed*

Oh wow, is she gorgeous.
If you dont mind, whats her feeding schedule like? I recently adopted a 6-ish foot female boa, and she's definitely pudgy. I'd like to get her looking like this girl.
I currently have 4 ball pythons, 2 boas, a corn snake, and a hatchling rack full of evil corn babies. In the past, I've had kenyan sand boas, rat snakes, and a hogg island boa (rescue that never got better, despite vet visits) So I can definitely appreciate a love for the legless beauties :3
