Like there are frequently males in some of the female costumes at the Disney resorts, and vice versa.
In a non-verbal role, the gender of the person in the costume isn't really important. They just have to be the right height and be able to perform the character effectively. I see these a similar way.

As Articfoxpi just said before, yes they do, and pretty often Mickey or some other small character like Pinocchio are worned by women, but I don't know why, some people seems to mind it a lot more when they see, or think, a woman character is performed by a man.
The funny thing is I've people which are saying the same even when Lisa or An'ka (or both) are worn by women ;)
