Hey guys and girls, welcome to a new open species of mine called, "Glowletts", they can vary in appearence greatly, however they take the form of some kind of light-bulb creature. The intensity of their glow varies primarily on their anger, and their health.
The color of their glow from their lightbulbs and surrounding ribbons, depends on their mood at the time.
The glowlett's 6 ribbons that look like wings, it can use 4 of them as additional feelers (it requires at least 2 to stay afloat). the two tassels at the bottom look like legs, but they are not they are additional tassles, of which the glowlett has no capability to manipulate.
All the feelers/tassles etc. are made from pure energy, of which they can control The density of the energy so they do not incinerate everything they touch. It can take a long while for a glowlett to become proficient at using this ability, so you may find glowlett young unintentionally incinerating most things that they come into contact with, they mean no intentional harm but they have a lot more energy to burn off.
This energy can reach up to 50,000 degrees Celsius, (roughly the same as that of a lightning bolt), however as they mature, they can control the energy much more effeicently and can bring the temperature down to about 40 degrees c.
Death of a glowlett occurs when its fillement breaks, from old age or shock, or if its glass head bulb is smashed. cracks in the glass decrease its lifespan dramatically because the pressurized ignition gas inside leaks out and is slowly replaced with non-combustible oxygen. I guess its a very slow suffocation, same sort of effect.
The glass on a glowlett is thicker than that of a standard light-bulb, however and can vary in translucency and color.
In particularly harsh environments you may find the LED and SAD variants of glowletts which have evolved not to have a fillement. and have plastic heads rather than glass ones, these types are much more durable however finding one is rare, as not many glowletts live or can survive in these conditions.
their bodies can also vary greatly however the two most common are the "edison thread"body (the type shown here), and the "bayonet" body.
Anyways they are Glowletts, what you think of them? im planning to have them as a draw to adopt species ill do a ref. sheet containing all the relevent info if you guys and girls would like this to be a thing! I thought they would be a fun species to have and play around with if people struggle with ideas for these little guys i can make some adoptables if they become a thing...
Cheers
