Hey You [cover for violin quartet]
So I bought my first violin when I was 16 (that's fourteen years ago, for anyone keeping count), and I broke the bridge very soon after getting it and figured that fixing a violin would cost the arms and legs of the rest of my lineage, so it would just be an heirloom piece. Then I realised you can just buy bridges on the cheap and I got a 10 pack for $10. Then I decided to buy this that and the other for my violin and realised it would be less expensive to buy a cheap electric violin, and that would be quieter and I'd be able to record with it! So I did! And then that one broke. And then I got another one, this time with a warranty!
So, after three months of learning and teaching myself, I figured I give recording something a go. So I spent all day yesterday transcribing Hey You from Pink Floyd to a violin quartet piece and then spent WAY too long today recording it! 8D
I know there are still a huge number of issues (not just with the mix, but with my playing itself), but after only three months of playing, I'm still really fucking happy with this! :D
And yes...EVERYTHING you hear is violin. Even the guitar solo is violin.

Thank you! I ended up breaking up the main melodies by having the 1st, 4th, and 7th notes on one violin track and the 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, and 8th on another so that it layered really well and had a lot of “ringing” notes. I watched a lot of string quartets playing it on YouTube and they all had only one violinist playing the whole melody itself and it just felt...lacking? Lol
