Sandshrew is a pokemon I just. ADORE. Even the shiny version! I love love love Sandshrew because it’s just so darn adorable! I love the alolan form of Sandshrew too, but there’s something to be said about the original flavor. I imagine that in the arid climate of its natural habitat, it probably doesn’t do well to look so… green though.

So I darkened up that yellow tone to a more muddy color so it can blend into its desert environment better.

Sandslash is a pokemon I think is a little unappreciated. It’s just as adorable as its pre-evolution and I really wish it’d been one of the pokemon to get a Mega Evolution, but it’s still super as it is. The shiny isn’t one of my favorites though… why does it go from that cute minty color to … blood-soaked spines?

In theme with the pre-evolution colors, I decided to make it look more muddy as well, and the tummy is a soft sandy shade. It looks like it’s ready to take on the sandstorms now.
