My new hairless rat baby, Prunella. She is still a bit nervous and shy, but after this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PskHgIss2dA she let me pet and scratch her for a long time, and even boggled :) The cage is temporary as I try to introduce her to my three other rattie gals. I adore furless animals, they feel so neat. I'd been wanting a hairless rat for so longgggg. :')

I didn't try to feed him adults! I'm not that stupid! I fed him small pinky mice, perfectly small enough for him to eat, and he did eat them... at first. It wasn't until later that he refused to eat, even when I put the mice into his mouth.
I only said that because your rat looks a lot like an over-sized pinky mouse.

you did take him to a vet right? When snake doesn't eat at all (not just a missed feeding or two, depending on the snake), that's a sign that they need to see a vet. It's not a joke, they can starve to death when that happens.
And don't tell me there's no herp vet in your area, because I don't buy it. Most people that say that never really looked, as if you ask around they aren't hard to find at all.

Sorry if I had sounded snotty, I didn't mean to. I was concerned, because a lot of people don't realize their pet's needs and many don't realize how easily accessible most exotic vets are nowadays, even when you live in a rural area like mine. I'm glad to hear that it changed.
i see these guys and the hairless guinea pigs too at herp shows, but i just can't get over how they look emaciated to me without much fur
guinea pigs especially, so i keep thinking i would have difficulty telling if it really was sick and since rodents have such a high metabolic rate
any hesitation could have you missing a possible treatment window to cure and so i shy away
petting hairless critters is awfully addictive though, the only things i could compare the sensation to would be either:
rubbing some one's freshly shaven head or feeling the loose skin on a really wrinkly elderly elbow
i wonder what it is about the hairless trait that makes their whiskers always come out so short and oddly curly
