Yukiko, a butterfly winged fennec/marble fox hybrid, posing cutely. She has little bells and crystal snowflakes wrapped around her fluffy tail, and a bells around her belly, so she jingles when she moves... and she has a purple ribbon braided into her long hair =). Yukiko is copyright Kanashimi.
This was a fun commission to do - I enjoyed the character design (especially those wings - based on a Blue Ulysses Swallowtail Butterfly) and the color scheme was definately to my liking =). I like all kinds of color schemes, but I tend to favor the blues.
Yukiko is done in microns, markers, watercolors, and acrylic paints on 9"x12" illustration board. Oh, and I used masking fluid for the drifting snow in the background. =).

I actually dont have any set order or method... which makes it really interesting ^.^ - I use different media for different things, depending on what I feel would work best for that particular area. There is one consistency, though, and that is I never use marker alone - and marker is always used as a base for another medium. I used marker for the hair - and shaded over it in acrylics and watercolors. I use watercolors to fill large areas with variable color (the background, wings), and I use the acrylics to get in the fine details, lightest lights, darkest darks, and some of the base colors.
Its really just a big mish-mash of media, in layers.. and I keep working and adding layers until I like what I see =).
