In the novel I am creating about �thian this is the blade he carried with him that helped channeled his quintessence. To most would make it seem unwieldable and most others believe is the only reason why he can even cast runes, unfortunate for the people that give into rumors about the enigmatic wanderer, most are just old wives tales about where he got his power to cast his spells or "runes".
