Feeding America using art and small cars and a colab sketch
One of the passions I share with my fellow Art Pirate
darknatasha is our love of the Mini Cooper automobile. We both own more than one, which means many more times the fun!
Every other year Mini hosts a cross country rally called Mini Takes The States, which allows the enthusiasts to enjoy driving their Minis all over the country on the lesser taken routes.
We are going to join the rally near my house in Texas, and wind up at the finishing point near Natasha's place in Colorado. It promises to be a fun week!
Mini chooses a charity to sponsor every year, and their choice for 2018 Is Feeding America, which is a non-profit organization working to promote food security throughout the country.
From their website:
"Feeding America crafts a coordinated response to the hunger crisis that is implemented through our vast network of food banks. Our national staff provides technical assistance, capability development, programmatic training and shared learning to maximize the efficiency and reach of local food bank programs. Bolstered by this foundation of support at the national level, each food bank has more resources than if it operated in isolation and can reach more people in their service area. Only by working together will we reach our goal of providing an additional 1 billion meals annually by 2018.”
As artists we can contribute to the community in many ways, so we have decided to help fund raise for Feeding America while participating in the Mini event. We have created a team on the Feeding America Mini event site, and are asking for your support! Any donation of $25 or more will also be entered into a drawing, where one lucky donor will receive a joint sketch done by both of us! Larger donations will help feed more people and are encouraged, but only one entry per qualifying person. The image in the banner is an older joint piece we did which illustrates the Light & Dark theme well, but is not the image you will receive. This is for a sketch only, not a full color commission.
Donations can be made through the Light & Dark team page at the URL in the image, or by clicking here:

The shame of this is that I had no idea
darknatasha was married, and had thought that the infection she was stricken with took enough of her sight that she couldn't drive. (Or is her husband doing the driving)?
I hope that you two make serious bank on this, because I can hardly think of a better cause. Best of luck to you both!

Not sure if you are confusing an infection with a bad car accident I had. No problems with my eyes but it did mess up my hip. Either way my husband is doing the driving. I get to sit back and enjoy the ride. :D
We are excited for the trip and happy we can contribute to a good cause.

It turned out that my fiancee had you and Susan Van Camp confused - I'd thought she was talking about something that happened to you post-accident.
That's really good news, though! And I hope you and husband have a blast! Road trips can be such fun and this one's for a great cause.
And it's also really, really good to hear from you, Natasha. I've so missed that.
