“Boogosts are the final stage of haunting spirits. Over time the memories of their former lives fade, leading not only to a loss of identity but also cognitive ability. Eventually this erosion renders their form void of all defining features and the echoes of their intellect only able to babble nonsense.
Whether floating aimlessly or bound to a particular location, these unfortunate souls are only compelled onward by the primeval instinct to sustain themselves. With no offerings being made by their surviving lineage they can usually be found mindlessly leeching energy off the living.
Enslaving a Boogost is often the first challenge for a novice necromancer and those skilled often lure them in their multitudes by creating fonts of energy exuding from negative astral planes. Believer or blasphemer, Boogosts are a grim reminder that failure or refusal to cross-over has its consequences.”

The pop culture image of the Halloween Boo Ghost is something that has sparked my imagination. We often see them singing in choir to villainous songs or dancing along the walls of decrepit mansions. No matter where or for what reason, their use as background noise inspires a thought:
“These were people. Are people. Like myself and those around me.”
Now they are dismissed like insects, act like insects, with none among the living caring for their plight. Haunting spirits are often seen as missing apart of themselves, repeating actions and being in a daze. I remember once reading a “guide” to being dead which stated one shouldn’t trust your memories after death as they will grow corrupted. With a lot of inspiration from Casper the Friendly ghost and Phantsma from Scooby Doo’s fame we get this piece. To that end if I got to write a movie, here is my prompt:
Protagonists dies and slowly losses sense of self. Endeavors to reverse effects but continually losses focus in a muddled reality with actions becoming ever nonsensical as the mind turns ever more drunk and appearance ever more generic. Ending summarily in being able to only one thing:
“Boo!”
