Once again, I am adapting and expanding the work of
bluecollie55... With his permission, of course!
I wanted to redraw a lioness that he had created. She is young, stunningly beautiful and queen of her realm. But a queen needs a king, so I have decided to draw her with her beloved, regal husband. He is both a gentleman and a REAL MAN, astoundingly handsome and enormously strong, just as she would want her beloved to be. Not only are the king and queen deeply in love, but their physical urges can be hard to control, even when they're making a formal appearance!
Neither character has a name, but the title is based on the nickname of Charles II of England, whom the king loosely resembles. Charles was known as "The Merry Monarch", for he loved good living and entertainment. He was also a huge flirt and would no doubt have wooed a great many beautiful ladies like this lioness in his day. (He was known to have several illegitimate children.) But Charles's nickname may also have been ironic, for he was restored to the throne in 1660, around ten years after England's monarch lost our Civil War to Parliament, who tried to force Britain to become a republic. Charles's father, the first King Charles, had been executed for apparent treason, so he ruthlessly hunted down the plotters and executed many of them himself! It was not until the century's end that monarchy and parliament agreed to share power peacefully, as they do to this day.

OK, first of all... Wow! I am rather amazed at how the Queen looks much similar to how I drew her back in the original picture! You even got her bust and hair right as well as remebering her beautyvmark on her chin. I am rather impressed an flattered. The details are so gergously grand and impressive. I see the King has medals on his uniform, which seems similar to British Royal clothes. There are some sort of bird-of-prey heads sculpted into the legs of the thrones, like eagles or falcons. The poses and the smiles of the characters as they look at each other is beautiful, serene and romantic. You have to wander what they're going to get into. This is good solid work.
