Located 40km from the nearest settlement in any direction, the Windy Warden Cabin is one of the most isolated outposts in Banff National Park. It is here, in the Panther Valley, that the first free-roaming herd of bison will be released since the 1870s.
Last week a friend and I made the trip up to see them a month before they're released from their holding pasture. We were treated to this sunset at the end of the long road. We'll be one of the last to see them, one of only ten groups that have made the trip since they were first brought up last year.
It was an unforgettable experience, and one that I am really happy to share with all of you.
