Schwarzpelz - Chapter 4 - Part 16
Story time and actually the chapter is nearing it's end now. I knew it'd be shorter than the others but it came rather quickly in the end.
Still playing around a lot with the art style to find that real comfort zone where all the techniques blend together nicely, and I actually learned something while reading and studying manga art styles. I do like the general manga-look,
but for some reasons a lot of mangas are not very gentle to the eyes, by which I mean that while reading, I often cannot see, for several pages in a row, what I am even looking at. The art just often gets confusing, characters and
backgrounds are blending together in very unpleasant ways and the plot and scenery seems to be jumping around in a very illogical way, etc... Which is something I really wanna watch out for. There are a couple mangas out there
which I've read now that deal really well with this kinda problem, where you always know what's going on because all the little elements, thickness of the lines, black and white contrast and the panel layouts are thought out very
well and become gentle to the eyes.
And I wanna have a comic too where you don't have to think you're decoding hieroglyphics all the time and can just have a pleasant read.
I think it worked out okay for this page, but there are quite some little sections I'm not satisfied with just yet. Panels 1 and 3 would be my favorites I guess since they felt very natural and harmonic to doodle.
Aaaaanyway, hope you still like it

Yessss, an explanation! I was hoping for this. Though "can communicate with animals and not just emit an empathy field" is also good to know.
You're right, a lot of manga can get...noisy. Berserk is the worst offender I can think of in this regard. Off the top of my head, the best example of super-detailed while avoiding noise is is the Akira manga. But having read a fair amount of manga, from the simplistic to the overcomplicated, I really do think you've done a fantastic job with this style.

Celia getting cuddled by Cherry is adorable... and also got me thinking how much easier Celia's transformation must be to handle than hers. Cherry's had to adjust to being the size of a building and not even having hands any longer...
Panel 3 impressed me all over again at how good you are at depicting the differences in scale of all these characters. And how fluffy you make them look!
Looking forward to more, as always!

I have to agree with you with your favorite panels, but the shading in panel 1 to me makes it my favorite.
Now about the story, does every drifter has that "extreme empathy" as I saw someone name it last page? If that is why then that explains why Cherry doesn't like hunting, but there is my problem, if every drifter has that trait, did Chakka feel the arrow hit the boar? My idea is he get that, but as Cherry got used to that feeling, maybe he has as well, or he just understands the food chain and that he needs to kill to survive(that sounded less sadistic in my head xD).
Loving where you are taking the plot of the story, take care!
