"Advice from a volcano: stay active, keep your inner fire burning, it's ok to let off steam, go with the flow, be uplifting. It's all a matter of time. HAVE A BLAST!" by Ilan Shamir
This amazing commission was created by
Koul. I really love the eruption effects and the reflected light on the face of my charater Rakan in this picture.
I've climbed up several (active/inactive) volcanoes in my travels - and even climbed into the lava chamber of an inactive one - so I'm rather fond of volcanoes.
The original idea was to show a scene from many years ago, where I'm sitting on the edge of the vulcano Stromboli in Italy. However by coincidence, the picture was finished at the same time as the eruption of the Kīlauea in Hawaii. In addition, due to some artistic freedom, the type of volcano in the picture fits the Kīlauea even better than the Stromboli.

It doesn't look quite as overwhelming as it is shown in the picture (Koul takes just a description and works without WIP approvals).
From where I was sitting back then (at a safe distance on the top of the Stromboli vulcano), I was only able to see the fire fountains (the exact type of eruption is actually called "Strombolian Eruption"). It mostly looks like this: https://imgur.com/7aTkMVl
