Hey guys! Finally, I've finished this thing up so I can finally show you all what I've been working on for the past week and a half now!
This is the Art Style Challenge, where, as you already know, you try your best to draw your character in a different style. Usually from a show, anime, or video game you like!
But....this time....I wanted to add my own twists to this challenge.
Usually, this challenge only consists of no more then 15 to 20 styles, sometimes less, depending on the artist! However, since I'm a glutton for punishment, i decided to do 30, that's right, 30 styles! 15 of them from TV, Anime, Games, and other media. And the other 15 are from other artists from around the internet who have inspired me and have helped me grow!
And the final twist, since i like certain artists/styles for different things, i decided to chose 3 of my characters to draw for this! For example, if I like an artist's way of drawing people, I'll be drawing my MHA OC Naomi! Or if I like the way they draw furries, I'll draw my Purple Fox Meko! And, of course, if its dragons, I'll be drawing Valona!
First up. The Media Portion!
Style 1: Attack On Titan
This was truly the first anime where I've ever been involved with the fandom! And, while i had some good times in it, It certainly isn't without its flaws. But, despite that, it's what gave me a good push to start drawing people more! I love the use of thick black outlines on the characters! it really helps separate them from the background, but not nearly enough to be too much, if that makes sense. The way the show uses lighting and expressions to convey moods is also very nice!
Style 2: Avatar The Last Air Bender!
I was OBSESTED with this show years ago! And i still love it to this day! But, its very weird to say, but i never once tried to make an OC or tried to draw in the style of the show! I love the shows art style because, even though its done in an anime art style, it still retains a lot of Western style cartoony elements to it as well! Like with the Slap Stick animation during funnier scenes or the expressions!
Style 3: Disney!
For real, like, who doesn't love at least ONE Disney movie!? I love all of the animal based movies like Lady And The Tramp, Lion King, Fox And The Hound, and Zootopia! And that's why I choose my foxy boi!
Style 4: Free! Iwatobi Swim Club!
Yeah! I'm aware the show is fan service! I DON'T CARE! THE GUYS ARE HOT! AND THE ART IS PREETY! I especially love the use in bright and saturated colors, as well as the beautiful way their characters move!
Style 5: Hitaila! Beautiful World!
The old style of the show was ok, but when Beautiful World showed up, HOT DAMN! IT WAS A BIG IMPROVMENT!
Style 6: Lucky Star!
Seriously! If you haven't seen this anime, GO WATCH IT! It's hilarious with a cute art style to boot! And the theme song will be stuck in your head for weeks! TRUST ME! I've always enjoyed Chibi styles more, because they are very difficult for me personally for me to pull off. Mostly because I can't decide on weather or not to make the detailed or make them stupidly simple!
Style 7: My Hero Academia!
Tired of hearing me talk about this show yet? TOO BAD! Horikoshi's work is truly inspiring and just way to cool to not look at! He's brilliant when it comes to character design and drawing expressions and hands! As such, I did my best to incorporate the two in my attempt. His style also has a slight shift whenever it needs to fit a certain mood or scene! I HIGHLY recommend watching the show! It's really good!
Style 8: My Little Pony, Friendship Is Magic!
The style is cute and simple, plus I was a huge Pegasister at one point. I still like the show, but I haven't really been keeping up with it as much.
Style 9: Steven Universe!
I'm not necessarily a fan of the show for the character art, but more for the colors and the backgrounds in the show!
Style 10: Studio Gibli!
I remember seeing Kiki's Delivery Service years ago as a kid and dear god it was adorable! And I watched Spirited Away for the first time EVER last year and it was absolutely beautiful! I believe the Gibli films showed us that not all anime has to be boobs, sexy girls, giant swords, and eyes big enough to see from space! The backgrounds in those movies are just sunning and the stories told are wonderful!
Style 11: The Legend Of Spyro!
I can already feel the TLoS fans screaming, "ALL CARTOON DRAGONS ARE SPYRO OC'S!" No, they aren't! And your ass will be insta-blocked if you so much as hint at that! I decided to stick with the style used strictly in the game, so I had to go off the 3D character models. Which wasn't easy.
Style 12: TMNT (2005)
To be honest with you guys, I LOVE the Ninja Turtle! Ever since I was 9! The 2005 version was the one I grew up with and it remains my favorite version to this very day! However, this was a difficult style to nail down as I liked the style they used for their mutants and furries, but they didn't have any good refs of any furries that looked like or were foxes. Sooooo…I went with people! And it doesn't look half bad to me!
Style 13: Tsuredure Children!
This show I would recommend to anyone who likes slice of life romantic comedies! It's ridiculously cute and funny as all hell! (Especially in the Dub) The style was the first thing that peaked my interest in the show. The line art has a very suddle reed hue to it that you may not pick up on right away. And the way they shade their hair and eyes makes me melt! its so pretty!
Style 14: Your Lie In April!
Watch this anime, but for the love of god bring some damn tissues, because you WILL need them! The light pastel feeling and color scheme of the show is adorable and just so damn pretty! I also love the way they draw eyes and tears! Like....HOW!?
Style 15: Yu-Gi-Oh!
Quite literally, the first anime I ever watched! and I didn't even know it was considered an anime! I just thought it was a cool as fuck cartoon! And, it even add more fuel to my already huge love of dragons! The thick and bold colors of the show, along with the very angular and "sharp" look to the characters gives it that signature Yu-Gi-Oh look! And to this day, it's held onto that look!
And, there you have it! my First batch of Styles! I'll Upload the next version soon! (And for the Artist's featured in it, you'll know for sure when that happens! ;3)
