Purely a positioning thing. Cant really take on a long sword with a leading dagger. As for the glyphs the real in which they are waging war utilizes them as a form of magic. All from Fuckies own creation.

I'd probably prefer specifically a Claymore to any kind of dagger in a sword fight.

A claymore cannot be concealed, and slid between cracks in the armor of an unsuspecting victim. Whereas a dagger, is perfectly suited for the job. As well as speed and accuracy of a strike.
