Such a precious boi!!! I love the blue-green streaks he has on his dorsal fin!! X3
I love betta’s so much, I would love to be able to keep one for longer than 6 months. But for some reason, my 2.5 gal tank kills more betta’s than keeps them alive. :/
Am gonna try and get myself another sometime later...once I find the energy to throw out all the old gravel and CLEAN everything in the tank. Pretty sure that live plant I had last time introduced some kind of fungus or something as it was dying slowly.

Yep. But I think that even though I had the anubias plant, which is a low light aquatic plant, my tanks light was not sufficient enough to keep it sustained and alive. So, it was slowly turning yellow and stopped growing new leaves after about a month. And some kind of...white fungus started to spread all over the tank. My betta's fins had been slowly melting away no matter how much I treated him for fin and tail rot for a month. He was fine one day, then the next day his fins were...SEVERELY deteriorated and he wasn't swimming well. I tried transferring him out of the tank into an old glass betta cube I had, but he didn't make it to the next day. :c
And I was on top of water changes and medication and bloodworm feedings. I think a solely bloodworm diet was a little too much for him, so I think that's what initially started to cause his tail to melt ever so slightly. But honestly...I think what did him in was the white slime that eventually spread across the entire tank.
RIP Osiris. :c

well multiple things can effect the micro balance in your tank and lots of stuff can cause plant rot.

if you got a FB, join that group. its got 50 thousand people in it and they have TONS of group knowledge. if you ever get a betta again go over there and ask all the questions you like, they will be happy to set you on the right course and help you if your tank comes along with any troubles

I unfortunately stopped using FB two years ago, but thanks anyhow! I do a lot of research when it comes to betta care, lel. I kind of have to know anyhow, since I’m the fish guy at work. XD I’ve had more success keeping betta’s alive longer in betta cubes, but that’s not fair to them having them live in such small living spaces. Sure, betta’s can be found living in tiny puddles in the wild, but that doesn’t mean they should be kept that way in captivity. :/ So, I don’t understand how people can keep their fish in these tiny little bowls that barely allow the fish to turn around. Sure, it looks pretty, but it’s detrimental to the betta’s wellbeing.
