Whats This? Well "this" is one of the most inspiring artworks from the movie Zootopia.
Basic of this selfie is "to look good for the picture", or maybe "going out a date with someone". This however is a selfie that looks back on "How far I have been a part of the furry community." Its been 3 years.
To celebrate by looking back in reflection of my past, and what my future will be in 2023.
So this is going to be a really interesting speech.
2015
Once upon a time, there was a young pup whom I would like to call my furson, Tenno. The origins begins with only the passageways of the internet and playing games on my own Steam. When I used Steam, I stumbled upon people who were called "furries". I got the opportunity to friend a lot of furries and join the servers that were being run. One of them turned out to be one of my old friend (Shiro Okami) and many of his friends whom he introduced.
It was the time after my first year in college when me and my sibs were doing their own thing and that i was doing mine. One day, I was on steam and there was a game known as Warframe, filled with cyber ninjas and bad guys known as Grimr. I was then able to select an Excalibur class, then I was given a name "Tenno". That name became really peculiar that it is intentional, evidently its the cyber ninjas that were called Tenno. So this got me thinking about getting into the furry fandom and having fun. So I made my own traditional fursona and named him "Teno" and removed the extra N in the name. Then the last name that I would give him would be Igarashi which belongs to Anime Director Takuya Igarashi who adapted Soul Eater based on Atsushi Ohkubo's manga.
After a while of being anonymous and living the ballad life, my mom then asked me what all that stuff is and what im up to, then I told her that "this was nothing." All because I have been ashamed to hide the secrets, then she gave me the lecture of how all of the furriness is nonscence. I got my old laptop confiscated as punishment for what I did to her and my Dad (who even blocked furaffinity from me because I'm fully registered here.) This was only just the beginning of an era of me adapting to the furry community.
2016
The first year of college passed by and I have begun to undergo Japanese for the first time! This gave me the opportunity to engage in the nouns, verb, grammar, Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji! The dialect of the language itself became very different and very complex. I even got to meet a lot of friends who were getting to major in Japanese and/or who are wanting to study abroad in Japan. So I got into the activities such as club meetings, field trips to Japanese supermarkets, and festivals. I know right away that I'm getting to be a part of a campus organization that continues to stretch its goal of spreading the awareness of the Japanese culture and language.
After the second year of college ended, I had been hanging out with an old high school friend whom has a deep passion for anime, but we've meet in the year 2012 on my sophomore year. And since we both like anime at that time of the year, we have decided that we wanted to go to our first anime convention which turned out to be Anime Midwest in Rosemount, Illinois. Before the convention itself had to happen, I needed some consent from my parents whom still had a big disagreement on the furry thing and that it's not allowed in their household. They said yes, as long as I didn't do anything that let the furriness get in the way. My first cosplay then was non other than Professor Stein from Soul Eater. On the day of the convention in history, we get to the convention center and see LOTS of people dressed up as many anime characters and of course, FURSUITERS. I had to get consent to have pictures with said fursuiters and they turned out to be a really great to meet in person, and many more came about during my time at the convention. Then we headed back home after a LOOONG day.
2017
Third year in college, more Japanese equals more cosplaying interests. Been into skype and had gained many relatives that included more brothers in the furry fandom, a very loving master, a new dad, and much more too long to explain. Then i got into a club that involves cosplay and made new friends that have projects, who were getting ready for Anime Milwaukee in February 2018.
2018
That year after J Term ended was the month of the next convention that I have attended thus far. Reason for attending the convention is because a university at Milwaukee invited me and us (the japanese club and program) to help out with their panel at the convention. There I was free to roam freely and do things. Then it was at that moment I got the chance to meet the one and only Majira Strawberry, whom came to the convention because his fox dad, Pepper Coyote is one of the guests performing at one of the concerts during the evening. Kyle (the man behind the strawberry) turned out to be a really great person compared to his videos. After the day ended, we went back to the campus, and got picked up by my dad.
Bringing me to the present side of the world time continuum, summer so far, I may have been getting into the habit of watching furry youtube including Majira, Stormi, Pocari, Nos Hyena, Kiwi Fox, Kero the Wolf, Timus the Fox, and so many youtuber who have been able to inspiring me to draw many fanart of the furries themselves and sending fan mail to them so that it can be featured on video.
To conclude this Reflection, there is an announcement to make.
I'm in the 4th year stretch in college, and this has been by far 3 years since i became a part of the furry community. Being with a large group of people that I have known and loved during the time of my very existence has lead me to believe that I really do have another family that cares for what I like and for the things that I'm sharing a common interest in. On the year 2023, I will be promising you that I will be able to go to my very first furry convention at MFF after I graduate college and settle in my new apartment IF I can afford to pay the rent by then. This will particularly grant me the benefits of meeting all of those whom I looked up to for guidance and received for this coming generation. (P.s. I'm also planning to do furry youtube someday too.)
Thank you guys so much for the love and the undying support that you have been giving me, and I'm very happy that you were all there for me when I faced many struggles and overcame them in RL. You guys are all awesome and I will never forget the generosity. So be sure to fave, comment, and of course share this with your friends. Love you guys and stay awesome! :)
A special thanks to the family of fluffs for their support: :3
