A few people asked me what I thought about this topic, and since it's a pretty interesting one I decided to put my thoughts down on paper. I really hope you can understand my handwriting, because I was too lazy to write everything down on my pc.
Anyways, I'd really like to know your opinion, or if you have different approches to the issue! I look forward to read your comments! :D
By the way, I'm sorry I haven't replied to a lot of comments recently, but I'm quite busy and they kept piling up. I hope to reply in the next days, but if I don't rest assured I still read everythig you write down.

Actually come to think of it. That might actually be more useful for say a full on fighter. Some combatants in China, would take their long braids and have a blade woven into the braid. Depending on the length of the being's tail. They could easily have a blade or even a weighted ball at the end of it to use as another weapon if need be
I'm not sure how practical that would be, both because it would cause a balance issue and because striking it with it could leave someone exposed to attacks. I guess it would depend by the type and size pf tails, though, an iguana would probably have no issues pulling this off. ^^
I suppose with lizard folk, it would be easier to weaponize their tails. I was thinking along the lines of a martial artist. A monkey with a prehensile tail would be a force to reckon with.
I think I was being a tad speciest? I guess is the word. Taking the animals worldly habitat and making that it's nationality. Snowleopards, gray wolves, oxes, and cranes. Within the continent of Asia and Japan. Would all have some form of martial art. Wouldn't they? They'd easily be able to train to use such a thing
That and when I said blade, or weighted ball. I was meaning something along the size of a Kunai or an eight ounce steel ball. The strike is meant to be quick and unable to be detected or blocked. I mean if a human can weave a Kunai into their braided hair and use that as a weapon, you can't tail me a being who's got feeling in their limb can't turn that into a weapon

But could having tail armor affect the orientation and balance of the animal using it?
You could test this if you don't mind messing with an animal and doing something that would blatantly annoy them. Tie a rigid piece of plastic around their tail and see if it affects how they walk, if at all.

Too much or to heavy of armor would make the tail immobile and turn it into a tripping hazard. If the tail is made too heavy to lift it becomes open to being crushed or pinned to the ground. The other thing to keep in mind, you dont have to defend the tail against the force of an attack, but instead the force required to move the tail out of the way. As this force becomes lesser the farther down the tail you are the armor should offer more protection near the base and less at the tip. A small amount of mail at the base and segments of padded cloth going down the tail would work best for that. A tail isnt going to be a priority target so its protection should focus more on keeping it mobile and out of the way.
Very cool. I really like these anthro Armour and weapon examinations you do. I think it would make for a great short book, sort of like one of those “Osprey” books that detail weapons and Armour for military history enthusiasts.

I thought a lot about this as well! I'm not sure the strength of tails in this fantasy setting, because I've always imagined only being able to use lighter armor and maintain mobility. Because since the whole tail is flexible, without joints and needed for maneuverability i think it would need to be light and mobile, Maybe some sort of stubbed leather connected by a chain so they can still move flex around and not constrict. Know what I mean? Also, I really like when people design ways to put on clothes around tails! Because shoving your tail into a hold in your pants every time sounds really hard.
