This is a map and guide to my world, The Kingdom of Edesa.
I've been working on this place for many many months and making it come to life. I'm so happy that I can finally call it completed. This is the map where my closed species 'Aixu' live and where all of my other characters I own live.
Pinewood:
Pinewood is located at the very north-western part of the world. It’s almost always covered in snow except for a few months out of the year. It’s also covered with pine trees and has a lake in the middle of the island, splitting the village into two parts. The village on the eastern side is where the harbor is located along with the chieftain’s lodge and the western side of the village is mostly homes of the inhabitants of Pinewood. This island is governed by the chieftain Barin Mountainthorne, Isabella’s father. The exports of this island are timber, furs/hides, berries of all kinds, and fish that are only native in their lake.
Applewood:
Applewood is well known for its apples, as it’s title suggests. The forest is fed by Lovelake Lace and makes the apples the best in the world. You can find all varieties and colors here, but that’s thanks to the traders of Silverwood who collected all kinds of apple seeds from all over the world to make Applewood what it is today. This place is fiercely protected by the village of Silverwood since they were the ones to cultivate it and it’s a historical treasure for them.
Silverwood:
This village is more… wild than others. The inhabitants of Silverwood rarely get visitors since they are so deep in the forest, so they are very tribal in their ways of life. This village is very well known for their herbs since they live on fertile land thanks to Lovelace Lake. They also make beautiful pottery and delicious honey which comes from the apples/trees of Applewood, which is Silverwood territory. The folks of Silverwood are very traditional in their ways and are known for sometimes being stubborn.
Lovelace Lake:
Lovelace Lake is a very quiet lake in the middle of the forest in between Silverwood and Glasstown. It’s a beautiful and tranquil place where the sunlight streams through the leaves of the trees and dances on the water’s surface, showing the clarity of the water. Rumor has it that it has the most pure water in the entire world. The water is coveted by many including chefs and botanists around the world for its purity and it’s ability to better the quality of a meal or flowers/herbs. The tribe of Silverwood protects the lake and keeps watch over it. The stream that comes from the lake down to the sea is used at the Vridune Farmlands to make some of the best produce in the entire world.
Vridune Farmlands:
Known for the most delicious produce in the entire world due to being fed water from Lovelace Lake. It seems like the farmlands here can produce more harvests than anywhere else in the world due to the fertile properties of the land. They are most known for their delicious strawberries in spring, grapes in the summer, pumpkins in the fall, and chestnuts in the winter. They grow many other things, but those are the most notable since they are the most popular!
Glasstown:
Glasstown is a village that’s near the water and has a sizeable harbor and is a working village. It’s well known for its master crafters and apprentices that come from all over the world to learn the craft. The most known item that’s crafted here is their stained glass. It’s wanted all over the world and only the master crafters know how to make it and the process is only handed down to those whom the master’s think are worthy and skilled enough. The Vridune farmlands are part of Glasstown although there’s a river that disconnects the land. Some of the farmers live on the lands, but most take boats across the river everyday and go back to Glasstown.
Daikai Islands:
Daikai Islands is a very tropical region of islands that are close together and covered in palm trees and is known for its precious stones and gorgeous seashells. There are natives who live on the islands, but they don’t have many visitors. The people tend to come off overly-friendly since they are excited to see new visitors. The folks in this region export a lot of homemade goods such as pottery, jewelry, baskets, etc. Their main food source is kiwi, berries, quinoa, cantaloupe, beans, coconuts, kale, and seaweed.
Borealis Enclave:
The Borealis Enclave is a place that is always plunged in darkness, lit by the moonlight, stars, and it’s vegetation. The inhabitants there aren’t very fond of travelers and wear scary luminescent paint on their skin that scares folk away in the darkness. The vegetation all is mostly bioluminescent and used in various medicines used throughout the world. The whole island is basically a massive amount of metal underground as well, which they export along with their medicinal plants.
Church of the Two Moons:
This place is very secluded and the only way to access it is journeying through the Seranurn Forest. Inside this region sits a very beautiful cathedral which is home to Glacia, a Hallow Kit’kin, who is a healer and the priestess of this area. Her powers cause the area to be covered in ice and snow, hence the weather. Many journey very far to get healed by her magical abilities, but she ends up choosing who she wishes to use her power on. She is one of the only magic users that folks across the kingdom aren’t afraid of since she uses her powers for good.
Seranurn Forest:
Seranurn Forest is a vast sea of trees that grow so close together, all the light is blocked out making it always look dark. In the middle of the forest sits a giant magical tree named Brambleoak which grows around the Obelisk of Elements, feeding on its power. This forest is also occasionally full of mist when it’s caretaker Freya is around. She likes to be a bit mischievous and get people lost in the forest, but always goes to save them… eventually. This forest has various kinds of mushrooms that are good in dishes and medicinal purposes.
Zadavos Lake:
Zadavos Lake is technically part of Remici’s territory, but it’s been shared with Rythil for a few centuries. Here, you can find many different plants that are used in medicine and for food. Lotus, wild rice, water caltrops, water chestnuts, water spinach, and watercress are all found here in abundance.
Remici:
Remici is a modest fishing town that’s nestled close to the Seranurn Forest. This town is known for their fish and their vegetables such as tomatoes, cabbage, lettuce, spinach, chives, watercress, tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers. This town also has some very vast aquaponics systems (fish and plants work together to survive and thrive). These farmers are well respected for the amount of work that comes with the job.
Rythil:
Rythil is a fairly large village which is on the outskirts of Seranurn Forest. They have a decent sized port which allows for trading. Rythil is known for its metal that is mined in the area. You can find all kinds of metals being exported from here to everywhere else in the world. Their crops mainly consist of garlic, wheat, ginseng, and root vegetables such as carrots, daikon radish, parsnips, radish, etc.
Xyala:
Xyala. A Kingdom of its own, hidden in the sands, by the sea. This city will offer shelter to the citizens that reside here from the sands and heat of the desert. May it be a trading route from coming out of the sea, or if they have crossed the sands to the Xyala Port to take sails across. This city of the sands brews with life, buzzing with furs who are coming and going, with the Marketplace/Bazaar offering the most amazing, rare, imported, crafted and created goods for any traveler, who will need it along their journey, or if they so wish to buy! Xyala's life and business boom and thrive in the Bazaar, along with the luxurious Inn and Tavern for furs, and the Grand Palace, that stands and watches over it's people, protecting the city and creating life within.
Serusand Desert:
This desert is the surrounding area of Xyala. It's littered with ruins of past civilizations that the sand and wind has worn down over time. Because of the heat and the sandstorms, the people of the area created Xyala here near the port. The walls around protect everything within from the harsh sands.
Ruins of Amsu:
Once home to the ancestors of current Xyalan’s, many years of wear from sandstorms caused the city to crumble and become ruins, which inevitably caused the relocation to current Xyala. There's rumors that the old palace around here, which is buried within the sands still holds treasure. Rumor also has it that all the treasure scattered across the whole continent of Xaiheth originates from the Ruins of Amsu and the massive sandstorms that carried the treasures all across, burying them in the shifting sands. Sometimes you can find items just sticking out of the sand if you are lucky or the Divine of Wealth smiles upon you.
Tomb of Sabra:
The Tomb of Sabra is the most well-known resting place of the first ruler of Xyala. No one knows much about them since there’s not much written records left due to poor preservation and record keeping through the centuries. What is known is that it’s an ancient place that has not aged as quickly as the rest of Xyala due to magics surrounding it. A powerful creature is known to live here that guards a treasure and Sabra’s Sarcophagus. No one has ever seen it and lived to tell the tale.
Sarodol Valley:
This is literally the hardest place to get through in the whole world, possibly. It is a very VERY long valley of death and heat. Only the most seasoned travelers can make it through there alone. Otherwise, you must have someone from Ayleth’s Vale (currently closed area that is at the very end of the valley across a large lake expanse) escort you there since they are most likely a magical being or they know the best way to get through. The Obelisk of Death is also located here, fitting considering nothing is alive here.
Ayleth’s Vale:
Ayleth’s Vale is a beautiful oasis with floating waterfalls, magical trees that change color, and has a beautiful lake that keeps Saroldol Valley and the Vale separated. Ayleth’s Vale is the hardest place to visit/reach in the entire Kingdom. The reason for that is that to reach it, you have to have a magic user guide you through Sarodol Valley which is impossible to get all the way through since it’s nothing but extreme heat and barren land littered with some dead trees. Legend has it that the Divines were locked into a massive fight and one of the other Divine’s intervened and slashed the land into existence and the Divine’s tears fell and filled the lake, which stopped the two from fighting. The Vale is a safe haven for those who have magic abilities/power and want to learn to harness it or practice it in peace away from others who might be frightened of their powers. Magic isn’t well understood yet in the Kingdom, which makes people possibly frightened of it.
